Frank Baumann's health is improving after a bout with the flu, and he took part in an individual workout on Wednesday morning - just like a day earlier. His workout included some light running drills and work with the ball. "I am doing a little better," said the captain after Werder's practice.
"I am not yet back to full strength. But my health has improved daily over the past few days," said Baumann. But the 33-year-old could not say if he would be fit enough in time for Saturday's game against FC Schalke 04. "We will have to see how I recover over the coming days."
While Baumann is nearly over his flu, playmaker Diego called off his training participation Wednesday because of sickness. The recently injured Petri Pasanen also had an individual training session on Wednesday and said afterwards: "I don't have any more pain and definitely want to return to team training this week." And the green light for Saturday's game was given to Naldo and Tim Wiese, the latter of whom was only able to complete running drills the past two days because of a thigh injury.
