The reconstruction of Bremen's Weser Stadion is advancing with clear steps. After the roof of the north side was completely covered last December, photo-voltaic elements were added and are already in use and producing electricity. At the beginning of January, the final bindings of the south side were installed. And the mounting of the new facade on the south side started last week.
The glazing of the integrated photo-voltaic elements will be mounted on the steel construction of the exterior. And special suction equipment will keep the individual 90 kilo glass elements in place. The covering of the facade will take place in three steps. The completion of the southern area is planned for spring 2009.
In early April 2009, the second stage will begin with work on the northern facade. Similar work on the eastern and western sides will take place in the summer break. Also planned for the football-free time is straightening out the west fan curve and bringing it closer to the pitch.
