Martin Harnik was able to return to Werder team training on Friday afternoon. The Austrian international had been labouring recently with a groin injury. "Martin practiced with the team again today. Now we have to see how his muscles react," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. "If there is no problem then he would be an option for Sunday."
Harnik himself said after the practice that he felt good. "I am happy to have recovered so quickly from the injury. The thigh held up today without any problems," said the 21-year-old. "Now I hope to be on the squad list for Sunday against Bielefeld. Health-wise I feel really good. But first we have to see how I am after tomorrow."
Once again out of training on Friday were the sick Frank Baumann and Markus Rosenberg. "The good news is that it's not worse. But the main thing is that it's also not better. We have to wait on both to see if we can plan with them tomorrow, or if we have to wait longer," said Thomas Schaaf, who will definitely be without interior defenders Naldo and Sebastian Prödl as well as Petri Pasanen on Sunday.
