The sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) handed down a suspension against Torsten Frings. Because of insulting language to a referee, the German international was suspended for the next three friendly matches for the Bremen Bundesliga team. Frings and Werder Bremen have already accepted the ruling, making it binding.

 

Frings was shown the red card for insulting referee Burak Astar of Antalya in the 81st minute of Werder's friendly match against Galatasaray Istanbul on 13 January 2009 in Belek, Turkey.
