It's like a jinx. Werder Bremen also lost their third test match of the winter preparations. The Green-Whites were unlucky in losing 2-1 (0-0). After a score-less first half, substitute Boubacar Sanogo gave Bremen the lead 1-0 in the 49th minute. The Turks struck back in the 60th minute, seemingly out of nothing as Mert Nobre hit the equaliser. And then Besiktas were able to celebrate after Filip Holosko's winner in injury time.
Head coach Thomas Schaaf once again changed a number of positions in the Green-Whites starting line-up for this test match. There were several changes from the starting XI against Galatasaray Istanbul on Tuesday. As promised, goalkeeper Nico Pellatz got his chance between the posts for the Green-Whites. Niklas Andersen manned the interior defence along side Per Mertesacker. Petri Pasanen replaced Sebastian Boenisch as the left outside defender. Captain Frank Baumann played in place of new acquisition Alexandros Tziolis and playmaker Diego was in for Timo Perthel in the midfield. And the striker duo was comprised of Hugo Almeida and Markus Rosenberg.
