The advisory board of Werder Bremen and Co LtD met Friday night and set the course for the future of the company. It was resolved to extend for one season the contracts of Board of Directors members Jürgen L. Born, 68, finances and public relations work, and Manfred Müller, 64, marketing and management. Both contracts were due to expire 30 June of this year but the advisory board elected to continue its work with Born and Müller.
Willi Lemke, the chairman of the advisory board, explained the board's decision: "Jürgen L. Born and Manfred Müller have done tremendous work and now have the chance to continue developing current projects such as the stadium construction. But just like any team, we also have to keep an eye on the age structure in the Board of Directors and act accordingly. The coming year-and-a-half offer a large enough time frame to judiciously find successors."
