Werder's media director Tino Polster once again will provide some exclusive impressions into the world of the Werder professionals from their training camp in Belek. In his personal diary, which will be published at WERDER.de, he will comment on the latest Green-White results while also offering detailed news and telling anecdotes revolving around head coach Thomas Schaaf's team.

Thursday, 8 January, 2009, 11:30 p.m., Calista Luxury Resort, Belek:

A saying I know goes "Experience makes the best cook." But what does that have to do with our training camp in Belek? Quite simply, the ingredients for a training camp also have to be right so that it works. And the best ingredients bring on the experience. And Thomas Schaaf has collected plenty of that during his career as player and head coach. One time he had a winter training camp near Rome. It was bitterly cold - quite against his wishes. That destination was quickly crossed off. So, now we are in the Turkish Riviera for the ninth time, some 30 kilometres from Antalya. The region has developed sensationally. New hotels are being constantly built - one more luxurious than the other.

At the beginning of the millennium we stayed in a middle-class house along with seven other teams and we practiced quite a few kilometres away one team after the next. Now our harbourage is called the Calista Luxury Resort, which was designed by a star architect group from Hamburg and furnished by a top designer from London. The accompanying sports complex may be about 900 meters away. But there are two entire pitches available exclusively for us for the duration of our stay. And other than a few other guests, we have the hotel for ourselves as well.

Of course, WERDER.TV is once again with us - at the moment exclusively as only TV team on location. On Saturday we will be filming a report about our hotel so that fans can get a good idea of it. Werder is the first German football club to stay at Calista - so of course we are also the first to use the new sports facilities, which were readied in July after six months of construction. Fog was building as Thomas Schaaf and his team gathered in the middle of the pitch at 6:30 p.m. for the start of training Thursday night. And just as the head coach was about to speak, a muezzin called out nearby for prayers. May Mission Belek 9 succeed.
