Belek, here we come! The Werder professionals touched ground at Antalya airport at 1:35 p.m. (CET) and after a half-hour bus ride were warmly welcomed in the five-star Calista Luxury Resort in Belek, their home away from home for the next eight days. "The team was highly anticipated and welcomed by 20 workers in Werder jerseys," said Reydan Gök, Werder's contact person from the company Burdenski Events.
After the arrival went by without a problem, the Calista Luxury Resort will next be fixed up to Werder's tastes. "The hotel is very, very comfortable and one of the best in the Turkish Riviera - maybe even the best hotel in which Werder has ever stayed at in Turkey. The team is being housed in an extra wing so that the players can move around the hotel without being disturbed by other guests. There are two massage rooms and an equipment room. One of the three large restaurants is reserved for Werder where the team's special culinary needs can be met," explained Gök.
"We have been coming to Turkey for some time now. And of course we make sure that we vary the selection of our hotel. We were in Rixos two years in a row. This year we are in Calista. And the conditions here are also extraordinary. Once again, everything is near the hotel - the pitches are a couple hundred meters away," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. And with a comfortable 16 degrees and sunshine, everything is in place for the team to optimally prepare for the up-coming second half of the Bundesliga.
