All-clear signals for Hugo Almeida and Petri Pasanen. The two Werder players could not take part in team training at the beginning of the week but have been given the green light for the team's up-coming training camp. "I was able to complete all the running drills the past two days without any problems and I think it makes sense to travel with my team-mates to Belek," Hugo Almeida said following the afternoon weight training session. Petri Pasanen will also be sitting in the airplane on Thursday after recovering from his gastro-intestinal problems. And the team of goalkeepers will be rounded out by U19 keeper Felix Wiedwald, who replaces the injured Christian Vander.
Those players healthy again are not the only ones looking forward to the better weather conditions during the training camp. Head coach Thomas Schaaf is as well: "The weather there is exactly what we expected. And that is why we are leaving, to have perfect working conditions. But it will not be a holiday," said the Bremen boss clearly.
Werder Bremen's coaching staff will be accompanied on their flight to the training camp in Belek on Thursday, 8 January 2009 by the following 25 players: Wiese, Mielitz, Pellatz, Wiedwald, Boenisch, Pasanen, Naldo, Tosic, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Diego, Özil, Huseijinovic, Sanogo, Frings, Almeida, Pizarro, Niemeyer, Andersen, Mertesacker, Ikeng, Heider, Perthel.
