The preparations of Werder's players for the up-coming second half of the Bundesliga are starting to get serious. One day after the kick-off of practice for the Green-Whites - including a strenuous lactate test - head coach Thomas Schaaf had his team take a sweat-producing endurance run around the beloved Finbahn track in the Bremen city Bürgerpark. The second training session in the afternoon had the Werder stars working out in the weight room of the Weser Stadion.
"We are very motivated and very eager. We have planned quite a bit for the second half of the season," said Schaaf. He added: "I would like to get the team up to speed as quick as possible in the preparations." The up-coming training camp with give him plenty of time for that. On Thursday the Green-Whites travel to Belek, Turkey, where Schaaf will have his team "work on the fine tuning and fitness".
