There are just two match days to go before the Bundesliga heads into the winter break and Werder are determined to take their rest having gathered in the maximum number of points still available. Before the Green-Whites play host to VfL Wolfsburg on the 17th match day, there is the matter of a trip to the ‘Wildparkstadion’ to take on Karlsruhe SC on Saturday, 06.12.2008 (kick-off 3:30pm). And Thomas Schaaf’s men will be looking to pick up where they left off against Eintracht Frankfurt (5-0). “It’s important that we put on another strong performance following the game against Frankfurt. We can’t afford to let up now, we must continue working on things and stabilising our game.”

Bremen are currently working on regaining their consistency and maybe now is exactly the right time for the Bremen club to be facing KSC, who are currently considered something of a point delivery service for their opposition. KSC are rock bottom of the Bundesliga table and are on a very negative run. From their last nine games, trainer Edmund Becker’s side have only picked up one single point. A rather surprising development considering the club finished last season in a very respectable eleventh position.

“They haven’t returned to strength yet. They are still lacking the drive and stability that they displayed last season. In addition, they have had to deal with a number of departures and at the moment they have quite a long injury list,” commented the Werder coach on the drop in form of KSC: “Karlsruhe will get stuck in and work their way into the game. We are going to be facing a team willing to fight for their success. We’ll have to stand up to that.”
