“There’s nothing new”. Those were the words chosen by Werder coach Thomas Schaaf following the Tuesday afternoon training session to explain the current personnel situation at the club. As on Monday, Torsten Frings went through a light training schedule in his attempt to recover from muscular problems in time for the game on Saturday. The German international is planning to re-join his team mates tomorrow. Per Mertesacker was again unable to train due to his continuing throat problem whilst Daniel Jensen, Boubacar Sanogo and Martin Harnik would still appear to have some way to go before they are back at full fitness.
For Petri Pasanen and Tim Wiese, possible involvement against KSC on Saturday hasn’t been excluded as of yet: “I’m taking things on a day to day basis but I still don’t know when I will be able to train with the team again or whether I will be fit for the match on Saturday,” explained the Finnish international. Goalkeeper Tim Wiese is more optimistic about his chances: “I feel quite good again now and I’m not in any pain,” remarked the German international, and he went on: “I think I’ll be back in full team training this week.”
