For Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, 29.11.2008 (3:30pm kick-off), the Green-Whites will have to make do without Tim Wiese and Petri Pasanen. Both picked up injuries during training on Tuesday, prior to the Champions League clash with Famagusta, and missed out on training with their colleagues on Friday afternoon.
Whilst German national team goalkeeper Tim Wiese is currently suffering with an adductor problem, Pasanen has a muscular issue to deal with: “Petri will not be able to play and we hadn’t planned with Tim at all for Saturday,” exclaimed Thomas Schaaf. Aside from that duo, the trainer will also have to make do without Boubacar Sanogo - and that for some time: “Boubacar had a tonsil operation today. Everything went well but he will not be available to us again this year,” explained the coach.
On a more positive note, Sebastian Boenisch has returned to full team training following his muscular problems and will be an option for the game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
With the exception of Mesut Özil, who is still suspended, Thomas Schaaf has basically the same squad at his disposal that he took to Cyprus for the clash with Famagusta. The following 18 players have been named for Saturday's Bundesliga game: Vander, Mielitz - Boenisch, Naldo, Tosic, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Diego, Hunt, Prödl, Husejinovic, Frings, Almeida, Pizarro, Niemeyer, Mertesacker.
