Since Thursday, 20.11.2008, Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga professionals have a new team bus. In the future, the Green-Whites will make their bus trips in a ‘Scania Irizar PB’, which is valued at some €400,000. Scania is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen corporation, the official Werder Bremen automobile partner, and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of busses and trucks of
over 16 tons.
“I am very satisfied with our new bus. The seats are very comfortable and even Naldo or ‘Merte’ will have enough space to stretch out their legs here,” joked team captain Frank Baumann. “Our old bus is too small for us now. We have improved decidedly,” said ‘Baumi’.
By mentioning improvement, the captain wasn’t just talking about the 42 seater - from which two seats can be quickly transformed into a reclined position and are sure to be the most popular places on the coach in the near future. Baumann added with tongue in cheek: “Those are the places for the over thirties and as captain I consider myself to have certain reservation rights!” But
the rest of the bus is crammed full of luxury extras.
Whether the players wish to relax alone in the snug seats, chat together at the permanent or sinkable club tables, enjoy watching one of the three DVBT compatible TV monitors, take in a movie or just chill out to some of their favourite music from the ‘Professional Line’ stereo system - which includes a CD changer - they certainly won’t come up too short in the ‘Scania Irizar PB’.
