Werder’s general manager Klaus Allofs took part in the second ‘Round-Table’ meeting at the ‘Bavarian Football Association’ boardrooms in Munich on Monday, 17.11.2008. At the meeting of referees, members of the German Football League (DFL) and German Football Federation (DFB), as well as club representatives, the internal relations between referees, on the one hand, and trainers and players, on the other, were a focal theme.
Klaus Allofs summed the event up positively, saying: “Such meetings help us move forward.” The host, Dr. Rainer Koch, vice-president of the DFB’s refereeing representative board, was equally happy with the outcome of the meeting and reiterated the fact that: “This meeting was not called on the grounds of recent events, but was rather part of a gathering which is held on a rotational basis.”
“We have come to the conclusion that the co-operative work between refereeing officials and the clubs has improved and is better than has been publically portrayed in recent months. We did also recognise though that we must pay more attention to how we come across on television,” explained Klaus Allofs: “We have taken it upon ourselves to display more respect for each other in the future.”
