Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA registered a record breaking revenue of €112,4 million in the past fiscal year, significantly surpassing the result of €105,8 million in the previous year. “The most prominent source of revenue was and remains the Champions League, which we are involved in for the fifth year in succession now,” explained Jürgen L. Born, chairman of the board at Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA, in his report during the general assembly of ‘SV “Werder” vom 1899 e.V.’ on Monday evening. Born also went on to draw attention to the fact that the revenue sum for this year includes “significant transfer fees.”
The Green-Whites record profits of €8,3 million from the previous year could not be exceeded this time around. “We have closed the fiscal year of 2008 with a total profit of €2,4 million. One should of course not forget that the profits from the year 2007 included €5 million in exceptional, one-off takings from the World Cup and the settlement of the ‘Kirch-TV’ contract. If we subtract that figure from the previous year’s profits, then this year’s result is quite similar,” commented Jürgen L. Born on the profit and loss margin.
