On Saturday the next vital game awaits Werder Bremen. On this occasion, instead of the challenge of Panathinaikos Athens in the Champions League, at the weekend the Green-Whites will have to face VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga (Saturday, 08.11.2008).

Clemens Fritz will most definitely not be available for the game: “He’ll miss the match on Saturday. Clemens suffered a slight muscle sinew tear against Athens during the week. Thankfully the problem is not in the same place as the injury he had last week,” said Thomas Schaaf and he continued: “He won’t be available to us for at least a fortnight. We’ll have to wait and see exactly how long it takes. The German international himself was deeply frustrated about suffering two muscular injuries within such a short space of time: “It’s a stupid situation for me but sometimes you just don’t have any influence over these things,” commented Fritz. The 27 year old had only been back in training for a few days when he suffered the injury after being brought on at half time against Panathinaikos.

On the up-side, Torsten Frings, who hadn’t been able to train with the team due to muscular problems, was back and able to complete full team training, as was Claudio Pizarro, who suffered a bruised foot in the midweek Champions League tie. Both came through the Thursday session unscathed and will be available for selection on Saturday.

In addition, up-coming football teacher Ronny Teuber is currently a guest of Werder Bremen. For Teuber, this is the second instalment of his work experience training at Werder under Thomas Schaaf, as he prepares to take his coaching examination. As part of his apprenticeship, Teuber was involved with the Green-Whites during the pre-season programme at the training camps in Schruns and on Norderney. Over the next two weeks he will have the opportunity to experience everyday life at Werder Bremen.
