The initial prognosis on the injury to goalkeeper Tim Wiese has now been confirmed. The German international suffered a muscle sinew tear during training on Monday.

During the afternoon session, Wiese slipped as he went to gather a cross and, as a result, was unable to join his team mates as they headed off for Athens: “He will be out of action for ten to twelve days,” commented trainer Thomas Schaaf on the extent of the injury to his first choice goalkeeper.

The 26 year old will be replaced by Christian Vander for the very important Champions League tie against Panathinaikos Athens.
