The participation in training in Bremen had been rather poor over the last week due to the number of players away on international duty, but trainer Thomas Schaaf’s squad is now slowly beginning to re-fill. There were 14 Green-Whites away representing their respective nations at the weekend but on Monday both Boubacar Sanogo and Daniel Jensen were back in the fold.

Boubacar Sanogo returned to Bremen healthy and joyous have scored twice and helped the Ivory Coast to three points against Madagascar, but Daniel Jensen unfortunately touched down with an Achilles problem: “I am still having problems with the Achilles tendon of my right leg,” remarked the Dane, who also enjoyed a successful international weekend, at least on the pitch: “I was in a lot of pain after the game against Malta (3-0). Even lying on the bed at home I was in pain. My only goal right now is to get fit again.”

Another international, whose international duty is now over, was also missing from the session on Monday. Markus Rosenberg suffered a muscle sinew tear to his adductor region and will be out of action for the foreseeable future: “Markus picked up the injury whilst training with Sweden. I am hopeful that he will be fit again by the weekend,” commented Thomas Schaaf.

Jurica Vranjes would also have appeared to have recovered from injury. The Croatian injured his thigh during shooting practice at training last Thursday but was back training with his colleagues by Friday afternoon. Striker Claudio Pizarro was also absent on Monday: “He is caught up at Frankfurt Airport and was unable to make the session,” explained Thomas Schaaf. Pizarro had taken the opportunity to visit his family in London during his weekend off.
