The number of available players for Thomas Schaaf's training session on Tuesday was somewhat less than one would normally expect to see from a Bundesliga club. Due to a total of 14 players being away on international duty with their respective nations, the Werder coach was left with just nine out-field players and two goalkeepers at his disposal.
Dusko Tosic went through an individual programme with fitness coach Benjamin Kugel: "At the moment Dusko does not have the level of fitness that he would wish for nor does he have the level that we would expect from him. For that reason, I find it good that he can continue to work in our gym area," said Schaaf.
The remained of the Werder squad, that had stayed on in Bremen, quite visibly enjoyed the session: "It's quite normal that the players who are not away on international duty continue to train. They have to stay fit, and aside from that, it can be quite a lot of fun with less people. It's always fun to play football," commented Claudio Pizarro.
From the players who are not away representing their countries, Said Husejinovic was also absent from Tuesday's session. The 20 year old was unable to participate in training due to tooth ache.
