Following Werder Bremen’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, it’s back to the daily grind of the Bundesliga for mnanager Thomas Schaaf and his men. Almost all of Werder’s players came through the strain of travelling unscathed and were all able to participate in the final team training session on Friday, ahead of the next trip, to take on VfB Stuttgart.
The only member of the squad returning from Milan at less than 100% on Thursday was Petri Pasanen, who had some muscular problems. Following training though, the Finish international was given the all-clear. One man that Thomas Schaaf will definitely be without is Per Mertesacker. Last weekend the lofty central defender was red carded for a professional foul on Hoffenheim’s Vedad Ibisevic, which has resulted in the German international being issued a three match suspension by the German Football Federation (DFB).
Manager Thomas Schaaf has nominated the following 18 man squad for the away day in Stuttgart: Wiese, Vander, Boenisch, Naldo, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Diego, Özil, Hunt, Prödl, Sanogo, Jensen, Frings, Almeida, Pizarro
