The Werder fans are convinced that at the end of the season, Markus Rosenberg will take the crown as the club’s top scorer. Some 58,6% (30,392 voters) tipped Rosenberg to score most goals for the Green-Whites this season. But is the result of the vote really a surprise? Both in the Bundesliga against Bayern Munich and at Erzgebirge Aue in the DFB Cup, the Swedish striker got his name on the score-sheet. His tally in the league thus far is four and in the cup he has scored an astounding six goals.
Rosenberg’s closest rival in the race to be crowned top scorer is new signing Claudio Pizarro, who took 32,3% (16,752 votes) of the poll, which landed him in second place. Just like his Swedish striker partner, the Peruvian was on target recently against Aue in the cup and, his former club, Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. The two front men played a major role in the impressive results achieved by Werder in the last week.
Places three and four were filled by Hugo Almeida and Boubacar Sanogo respectively. Looking at the results of the poll it’s quite clear who the fans feel should be spearheading the Green-White attack in the coming weeks.
