The win against Bayern, progression to the next round of the DFB Cup – there has been plenty of good news for the Green-Whites of late. Now it would appear that the clubs injury problems are also beginning to lighten: “So far there have been no signs that any of the players took a knock in Aue,” announced a relieved Thomas Schaaf after Wednesday morning’s training session.
The situation with the players that were unavailable for the game on Tuesday, though illness and injury, has now also taken a turn for the better. Vice captain Torsten Frings has recovered from his muscular problems and was able to partake in the Wednesday morning session: “He went through the full programme, we’ll just have to wait and see how he deals with the extra strain,” explained Thomas Schaaf. Both Daniel Jensen and Martin Harnik were able to complete individual training programmes.
Jensen is currently quite confident that he will be fit enough to play a part at the weekend: “With a bit of luck I might be able to return to full team training tomorrow. It should be alright in time for the Hoffenheim match,” commented the Dane, who has been suffering with an Achilles problem.
