In their second Group 4 qualification game for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Germany played out a 3-3 (2-2) draw with hosts Finland at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki. Werder Bremen’s Clemens Fritz was the only Green-White in the German eleven on the night and he was replaced by Andreas Hinkel in the 82nd minute.
On the Finnish side, Werder’s Petri Pasanen was a solid member of the back four over the full 90 minutes. The Finns took the lead on three occasions throughout the night with goals from Jonatan Johansson (32’), Mika Väyrynen (43’) and Daniel Sjölund (53’), but each time the visitors managed to equalise through former Werder striker Miroslav Klose (38’/45’/83’).
