Surrounding the contract signing with marketing agent ‘Infront’ in Zurich, the Werder board of management, Jürgen L. Born, Klaus Allofs, Klaus-Dieter Fischer and Manfred Müller, took the opportunity to pay a visit to the headquarters of world football federation FIFA. Also present was ‘Infront’ administrative council member Günter Netzer. The group were greeted at the “Home of FIFA” by FIFA president Joseph Blatter.

 

Blatter welcomed the visitors and gave a brief insight into the history of the world football association. Other more current football matters were also addressed and the FIFA president had special praise for Werder Bremen for their attitude to the discussions surrounding the release of Brazilian midfielder Diego for the Olympic Games in Beijing. “The manner in which Bremen expressed themselves was fantastic,” said Blatter, “that was FairPlay.” Subsequently the visiting party were lead on a brief tour of the home of FIFA. Klaus Allofs and Jürgen L. Born then travelled directly from Zurich to Monaco, where at 6pm on Thursday evening, the draw for the group stage of the Champions League will be made.
