The question that has been shadowing Per Mertesacker so diligently since the beginning of the season can now finally be answered positively. Following his meniscus operation in July, ‘Merte’ is “feeling quite good now and starting to head back towards playing football,” explained the lofty central defender in an interview with WERDER.TV on Monday morning. “Now it’s all about taking time to build up again”. The German international had to admit that he gets itchy feet every time he sees his team mates out on the pitch kicking ball but it is still unclear as to when he will be able to re-join them. The complete interview is now available at WERDER.TV.
