Bundesliga representatives Werder Bremen were involved in something of a record breaker on Tuesday evening. Never before had 15,000 spectators turned out for a friendly game involving hosts Levski Sofia - a very successful event for their DFL-‘Foreign Initiative’.
The hordes of fans, that created a wonderful atmosphere throughout, saw a game which proved rather uninspiring over long periods. In a quite physical affair, Werder keeper Tim Wiese maintained focus and kept a cool head as he rescued Werder from defeat with a penalty save in the 81st minute to ensure the game finished 0-0 against the Bulgarian Champions League qualification participants.
