Norderney – the island with no seasons! Is it spring, autumn, maybe even the beginning of winter? There is certainly no sun!! Instead a heavy cloud of rain is constantly present, hanging over the island – a situation which surely kept many possible spectators away from Thursday’s friendly against Fortuna Köln.

Werder’s press director Tino Polster is once again giving insight into the world of Werder Bremen during their training camp on Norderney and publishing his findings in his personal daily diary on WERDER.DE. There he comments on the most recent happenings amongst the Green-Whites, gives detailed information and tells the odd anecdote from the team and trainer Thomas Schaaf.

Still, 3,500 braved the weather to witness the rather historic event – it was the first time a football match was broadcast live from Norderney – and that on the double, with both DSF and WERDER.TV there with their cameras.

Markus Biereichel and I took up our commentator positions on the roof of the sports hall next to the pitch. There are more enjoyable places to be in the world, in particular when the rain is driving hard into your face. But weather can do what it will, WERDER.TV is always right there where the action is taking place and the next friendly games will also be broadcast live and exclusively over the internet.

Aside from just the games, plenty of other situations that present themselves during our stay on Norderney will also be captured by the WERDER.TV cameras. This afternoon for example as Naldo, ‘Baumi’, Daniel Jensen, Markus Rosenberg and Tim Wiese were all left slack-jawed as I took them down to the beach to film an advert which will be shown on the big screens in the Weser Stadium.

There they were awaited by Kai Wingenfelder, the lead singer from Hannover band ‘Fury in the Slaughterhouse’. On this occasion he was functioning as director for a spot for our sponsors ‘Beluga Shipping’. And he’d brought along some real eye openers for our players – three beautiful ladies who had the job of distracting the opponent’s corner taker. After four days of such intensive training, the three beauties had the effect of a three-headed oasis for the lads. The guys from WERDER.TV are putting together a piece on the events as we speak.
