On Wednesday, the German Football League (DFL) announced the exact dates for the first four games in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga season. All four games involving Werder Bremen will be played on the relative Saturday at 3:30pm. The set dates are Arminia Bielefeld (1st match day: 16.08.08), at home to FC Schalke 04 (2nd match day: 23.08.08), at Borussia Mönchengladbach (3rd match day: 30.08.3008) as well as the home clash with FC Energie Cottbus (4th match day: 13.09.08).
Between the third and fourth match days there will be a break for international matches, which will include two World Cup qualifiers for the German national team. The final game of the first four against Cottbus will be followed by the first match day in the UEFA Champions League (16th/17th September 2008). The Werder Bremen fans and trainer Thomas Schaaf’s troops will have to be a little patient in waiting to see who they will be faced with. The draw for the groups will take place on Thursday, 28.08.2008 in Monaco.
