On the first day of preparation for the 2008/2009 season, Werder Bremen made their next new signing. General manager Klaus Allofs announced exclusively to WERDER.TV, that the Champions League participants had signed a four year deal, until 30.06.2012, with Said Huseinovic. Last season, Huseinovic was considered one of the top players in the Bosnia-Herzegovina national league. The 1,78m tall attacking player scored 13 goals and was his sides most successful assist provider.
Klaus Allofs is completely convinced of Huseinovic’s qualities and said to WERDER.de: “Said is fast, a good dribbler and very mobile. In signing him, we have further strengthened our squad with an interesting type of player, who can open up new opportunities for us if he works to his strengths. We will have to be patient with him though, we can’t expect him to work wonders immediately.”
Head coach Thomas Schaaf explained: “Said caught the attention of our scouts as a light footed and straight forward attacking player. He will make his way with us and we are looking forward to having him here.”
Said Huseinovic is approaching the task ahead with a great deal of respect: “I of course am aware that this is a huge step for me. A new country, new friends and on the road in the very first week of pre-season training, but it’s exactly what I wanted. It’s always been my dream to play for a big club in the Champions League and that’s exactly what Werder Bremen is,” said Huseinovic.
