Werder.de: Torsten, German and Austrian fans are eagerly awaiting the game on Monday evening. Have you noticed any of euphoria?
Torsten Frings: “No so much. I think our team quarters are super and it really is an advantage that you have some peace. We don’t read the papers here. We are fully concentrated on the games. Of course we are all looking forward to Monday evening. It’s a game in which we can eliminate one of the hosts and tank-up on some self-confidence.”
It’s still unclear as to whether any of the young Werder players in the Austrian team will make a start against Germany. Sebastian Prödl is unfortunately suspended and Martin Harnik has been reprimanded by coach Josef Hickersberger for his rash comments and wasted chances...
Torsten Frings: “To be honest, it doesn’t interest me who will play for them on Monday evening. I don’t care who’s suspended and who’s not. We are concentrated on our team. We will not produce another performance as bad as the one against Croatia again.”
Has your club coach Thomas Schaaf been in touch with you during the EURO?
Torsten Frings: “No, he sent me a text message before the tournament but we haven’t had any contact since then. I think he’s on holiday in Australia at the moment and doesn’t have a proper network connection there.
