Austria are once again in a position to cause a serious football up-set for Germany. The anticipation ahead of Monday’s ‘Final’ in Vienna is rippling through the whole country - as one can hear in the comments of Martin Harnik. Confident after the 1:1 draw with Poland, the Werder striker commented: "If we can take our chances, then Germany had better watch out.” The young German-Austrian took time out of his busy schedule to speak to werder.de and introduce his international team mates ahead of the big match.

Harnik on...

21 Jürgen Macho (born: 24.08.1977, AEK Athens)

He’s the crazy one in the team, as a goalkeeper needs to be. Thanks to his height, 1,93m, he is extremely strong gathering high balls and from set pieces.

14 György Garics (born: 08.03.1984, SSC Neapel)

He’s the former U21 captain and is a first choice player at Naples in the Italian first division. He is very strong in tackling although you would hardly believe that by looking at him.

4 Emanuel Pogatetz (born: 16.01.1983, FC Middlesbrough)

He is really solid at the back. No compromises in his game, aerially strong, robust in challenges. One of our true leaders in the team.

15 Sebastian Prödl (born: 21.06.1987, Sturm Graz)

My best friend in the team and soon to be my team mate at Werder. He will be really frustrated about being suspended for the Germany game. I would have to praise his aerial power as well as his passing ability and strength in opening the play.

10 Andreas Ivanschitz (born: 15.10.1983, Panathinaikos Athen)

Our captain and the absolute leader in the side. He takes care of things both on and off the pitch and is vital in keeping the team spirits up. A real all-rounder.

9 Roland Linz (born: 09.08.1981, SC Braga)

The fighter among our strikers and someone who I really harmonise with in front of goal. He’s always active and does a lot of running. He was very successful in front of goal for SC Braga this season.
