The game will be played at the DKB-Arena, previously known as the ‘Ostseestadion’, on 30.07.2008 (kick-off 7pm). As recently as April 2008, the pair last clashed in the Bundesliga, where goals from Torsten Frings and Ivan Klasnic secured Werder a 2:1 away win. Following their relegation, Hansa and trainer Frank Pagelsdorf will now have to launch an attack on the top three places in the second division to achieve a direct re-promotion to the top flight.

Werder Bremen’s summer plan is as yet still incomplete, with further friendly games still to be planned. Due to the European Championships in June and the international games taking place on other continents, Werder’s international representatives will not be involved in the pre-season start of training.
