Werder Bremen’s players were joined by club vice-captain Torsten Frings as he returned to full team training on Tuesday. The 31 year old has recovered from a capsule injury to his right ankle, which kept him out of last weekend’s clash with Karlsruhe SC, and he was able to go the full distance during today’s training session.
Diego, on the other hand, was forced to finish training early due to a problem with his right thigh: “He had some slight muscular difficulties but I expect him to be fit to play this Saturday,” explained trainer Thomas Schaaf with a view to the upcoming Bundesliga tie against Energie Cottbus.
Club captain Frank Baumann has been back in individual training since the beginning of the week as he recovers from a ligament injury. Sebastian Boenish has also registered improvements as he continues to recover from a muscular tear: “It’s going well, but it’s not perfect yet”, commented the 21 year old defender who is aiming to return to full team training as soon as possible.
