Under the motto ‘Kick out Racism and Violence’, the Bremen Fan-Project travelled to Marseille from 03 – 10.04.2008 with the Werder fans to take part in an international youth exchange programme. The fan event was organised by ‘Eurocircle’, an association for youth exchanges based in Marseille. The hosts were the ‘Ultras of the South’ winners from Olympique Marseille, who have been active against racism in football for over 20 years now and wish to extend their international connections.
In Marseille, the Werder supporters, along with fans of Olympique Marseille, SSC Neapel, Betis Sevilla and Galatasary Istanbul, took part in a transnational workshop on the subject of racism in football. The highlight of the youth exchange was a trip to see the game between Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon, for which the participating groups prepared and presented an anti-racism choreography.
The Fan-Project Bremen, the staff from ‘Eurocircle’ and the ‘Ultras of the South’ winners would especially like to thank Werder Bremen for the support they received. For the trip, Werder issued the group with a Diego jersey and a match ball signed by all the players to take along with them. With the money raised in a public auction for the items, further projects and activities against racism, antagonism against foreigners and violence between rival fan groups in the respective clubs will be financed.
