When referee Khut Kircher gets the DFB Cup final underway on Saturday afternoon, Torsten Frings will be a little disappointed that he’s not there on the pitch in Berlin himself with Werder Bremen. Borussia Dortmund, who put an end to the Green-Whites campaign in the round of the last sixteen, will be there this weekend though, to do battle with FC Bayern Munich.
Torsten Frings will follow the game with a great deal of interest. The German international will watch on as two of his former clubs lock horns. “I can’t see Bayern allow the title to get away from them because they do have the better team. I would also like to see Dortmund taking the trophy though because I enjoyed my time there a little more than in Munich”, explained Frings who will try to remain objective but watch with mixed feelings on Saturday.
Despite leaning slightly towards BVB, who scored more sympathy points with the midfielder, Frings would also like to see his friend Oliver Kahn enjoy the moment of triumph in his last DFB Cup final as an active player: “He helped me a lot with settling in during my time in Munich. He’s a really nice guy and you can have a lot of fun with him. I will miss him when he retires, as will the whole of the Bundesliga”, concluded Frings.
