Werder Bremen’s next tie in the Bundesliga, away to Hansa Rostock on Tuesday, 15.04.2008 (8pm kick-off), will be refereed by Dr. Jochen Drees. Just last Friday evening, Dr. Drees was the centre of attention as he was forced to abandon the clash between FC Nuremberg and VfL Wolfsburg at half time due to torrential rain making the pitch totally unplayable.
In his 32 Bundesliga appearances, the referee has so far only once dealt with Werder Bremen as they beat Armenia Bielefeld 3:0 on 25.11.2006. He did play a role as one of the referee’s assistants on the line seven times with Werder involvement though. Hansa Rostock will, just as the Green-Whites, experience the refereeing talents of Dr. Drees for just the second time on Tuesday evening. The referee from Mainz was in Bremen not so long ago though, taking charge of the DFB Cup last-sixteen match between the Werder reserves and VfB Stuttgart (2:3).
