The journey to the next Bundesliga game has already begun. At 3:32pm, the Werder team coach departed from the Weser Stadium with all minds set on Rostock. This time around, there were 19 Werder players on board the bus. Team trainer Thomas Schaaf explained that the reasons for the slightly larger group making this trip were down to Petri Pasanen’s muscular injury and the tight schedule: “Petri had some muscular difficulties following the Schalke game so we have decided to take an extra man with us”, stated Thomas Schaaf.

Whilst the 19 man squad headed towards the Baltic Sea on board the team coach, Daniel Jensen, Hugo Almeida, Sebastian Boenisch and Pierre Wome were put through a special training programme in the pouring rain in Bremen by physio Stefan Wolters. Boenisch was forced to take his foot off the gas a little during the session: “I decided to head back inside before the end of the training session as I could feel some tightening in my thigh muscle. It’s nothing major though, I was just being cautious”, admitted the full-back.

The following 19 man group made the trip to Rostock this afternoon: Wiese, Pasanen, Naldo, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Diego, Özil, Tosic, Hunt, Owomoyela, Klasnic, Sanogo, Frings, Borowski, Niemeyer, Mertesacker, Vander, Harnik.
