Werder Bremen’s home tie against FC Schalke 04 on Saturday, 12.04.2008 at 3:30pm, will take place under the watchful eye of referee Manuel Gräfe. The 34 year old scholar of sports from Berlin has been a German Football Federation (DFB) referee since 1999 and has been in charge of games in the top flight since 2004. In 2007, Gräfe made the move into the FIFA rankings and gathered experience, refereeing games in South Korea’s K-League.
Werder last played to Gräfe’s whistle earlier this season, when they beat FC Energie Cottbus 2:0 thanks to goals from Diego and John Jairo Mosquera. The 34 year old has refereed Werder on ten occasions with the Green-Whites winning five, drawing twice and losing three.
