The talented young Werder Bremen duo of Max Kruse and Kevin Schindler were part of the German U20 squad which drew 0:0 with Italy on Wednesday evening to take over top spot in the group table. The German selection have now moved into first place ahead of Austrian. Both sides are tied on five points but Germany have the better goal difference.
8,000 fans at the Zepplin-Stadium in Friedrichshafen saw a couple of tactically well organised teams but, on the night, chances were a rarity. The Werder duo were both introduced for the second half and performed well, much to the pleasure of DFB trainer Frank Engel.
