It was a performance that will carry consequences! That was one particular issue that both Werder coach Thomas Schaaf and general manager Klaus Allofs could agree on. Nothing went right for the Green-Whites as they crashed 1:2 at home to lowly MSV Duisburg. After the game, werder.de gathered some important opinions from the Werder camp.
Thomas Schaaf (coach Werder Bremen): “There’s no discussing the performance here today and we deserved to lose. This game was definitely a step backwards compared to the last couple of weeks. Recently we’d been doing a lot of things right but not the decisive ones. Today we did a lot of things wrong, including the decisive ones. We had so many weaknesses today, it wasn’t the style of play that we are all about.”
Klaus Allofs (general manager): “The table doesn’t really bother me that much but the manner in which the team went about the game does. We had a half an hour in which to improve out situation but just couldn’t put them under enough pressure. We just weren’t good enough! Nobody, from player one to player eleven, did what they are capable of - and that worries me.”
