The Werder week began for the players on Tuesday morning in an unseasonal late March show storm. Trainer Thomas Schaaf unfortunately had a mightily reduced squad of players available to him due to the number of his men away this week on international duty.
The bunch of players kitted out for training was boosted by the return of Tim Borowski, who has now recovered from thigh muscle problems. “Everything is okay again now”, explained the Werder midfielder after he’d completed a full training session with his team mates.
The week had a similarly positive start for Daniel Jensen. The Dane was also back amongst his team mates on the training pitch in the driving snow. Together with physio Jens Beulke, Jensen was put through a special, individual training programme which was devised to help him make a quick return to the team following his groin strain.
Defensive pillar Naldo (deep cut on his shin) reduced his involvement on Tuesday to some light jogging: “I was a bit worried about it during the Bielefeld game but I feel good now. I’m not in any pain. I don’t see any problems with playing against Duisburg”, remarked the lofty Brazilian.
