Torsten Frings is set to make his Bundesliga comeback this Sunday when Werder Bremen travel to Arminia Bielefeld. Following Saturday’s training session the midfielder said: “I don’t know yet if I will play but it’s really a nice feeling to be back in the team with the rest of the lads again. The main thing is that my knee holds out.”
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf is looking at the possibility of a run-out for the German international distinctly positively: “We will discuss things again but it’s possible that he’ll be involved tomorrow.”
The same applies to central defender Naldo, who joined the team as they made their way to Westphalia. As yet though, the coach has not come to a decision as to whether or not the lofty Brazilian will be in the starting eleven: “It looks good for him. He could play tomorrow”, commented the trainer confidently. Naldo had picked up a bad cut to his right shin in a challenge in training on Friday and had to have stitches to close the wound.”
The following 19 players have been nominated by Thomas Schaaf for the game in Bielefeld tomorrow:
Wiese, Vander, Naldo, Niemeyer, Tosic, Owomoyela, Fritz, Boenisch, Pasanen, Baumann, Vranjes, Diego, Frings, Hunt, Özil, Rosenberg, Almeida, Sanogo, Klasnic.
