“I expect to be fit again in time for the game on Sunday against Armenia Bielefeld.” That statement from the mouth of Ivan Klasnic on Wednesday was met with great joy among the Green-Whites. The Croatian international has been suffering with a persistent strain in his left thigh for some 13 days now but, together with team physio Stefan Wolters, he has been working on his return to team training: “I think I’ll be able to train again as normal on Friday”, remarked the striker.
Patrick Owomoyela equally has reason to feel happy with himself. The full-back, who had to be substituted at half time against Wolfsburg last Sunday with a blocked vertebrae, was once again able to take part in a full team training session without feeling any pain. Midfielder Tim Borowski, on the other hand, was only able to participate in some light jogging. It is as yet unclear as to when the German international will be available again as he is still having muscular problems with his thigh.
Peter Niemeyer, Christian Vander, Kevin Schindler, Max Kruse and Martin Harnik were also all missing from training on Wednesday. The five first team professionals are all possible alternatives for the reserve team when they play VfL Wolfsburg’s reserves on Thursday, 20.03.2008.
