Lemke becomes UN special adviser

Chairman of the Werder Bremen board Willi Lemke was named ‘UN Special Adviser for Sport’ in the service of development and peace on Tuesday.

Late on Tuesday afternoon, 18.03.2008, the UN general secretary Ban Ki Mon called up Willi Lemke to become ‘UN Special Adviser for Sport’ in the service of development and peace. The chairman of the Werder Bremen board was delighted about the honour: “I am very happy. It is an unbelievable acknowledgement.”

The chairman of the Werder Bremen board was delighted about the honour: “I am very happy. It is an unbelievable acknowledgement.”

 

Werder manager Manfred Müller congratulated Lemke on his nomination saying: “It is a great honour for Willi Lemke, for Bremen and for Werder.” Lemke was recommended for the post of UN Special Adviser by the German government at the end of last year. The Bremer will succeed Swiss advisor Adolf Ogi.
