Although not much has been going according to plan for the Werder Bremen strikers of late, the league statistics still show the Green-Whites front men to be among the top ranking in the league. Above all Swedish international Markus Rosenberg, who has nine Bundesliga goals to his credit so far this season, is highly regarded. Internally though, Hugo Almeida (7) and Boubacar Sanogo (6) are hot on the Swede’s heels. WERDER.DE put it to the users to decide who they think will be top scorer at the club by the end of the current campaign.
A total of 39,894 participants took part in the voting with an overwhelming 59% putting their fate in Werder’s number nine, Markus Rosenberg. Boubacar Sanogo picked up 16,9% of the votes, and with that second place, whilst Hugo Almeida took 11,5% of the ballots cast to secure third spot.
Somewhat surprisingly, Ivan Klasnic filled fourth place with 7,3% of the votes going his way, despite the fact that the Croatian international has only made six appearances for the club in this Bundesliga season since returning after his kidney transplant surgery. The Green-White fateful know only too well that Ivan can never be written off.
The rest of the places were filled by Kevin Schindler (2,1%), Austrian international Martin Harnik (1,9%) and Aaron Hunt (1,2%), who the fans clearly rate as more of a provider and midfield man.
