FIFA referee Martin Hansson will take charge of Werder Bremen’s last sixteen return leg clash with Glasgow Rangers on Thursday, 13.03.2008 (kick-off at 8:30pm). The Swedish fireman has been refereeing in the Swedish national league since 1992 and has been an official FIFA representative since 2001.
Hansson was recently in charge of the European Championship qualifier between Ireland and Germany in Dublin on 13.10.2007 (0:0). Shortly before that, the Swede had a Champions League game to referee between VfB Stuttgart and FC Barcelona (0:2). Contrary to Rangers, Werder have no previous experience of the experienced referee. Hansson kept order during the Scots Champions League qualifier against Red Star Belgrade on 14.08.2007. The Glaswegians won 1:0 at Ibrox Park on that occasion.
