Following in the footsteps of Sebastian Boenisch and Mesut Özil, another Schalke player has opted for the move to Werder Bremen. From the beginning of next season, 17 year old Pascal Testroet will swap the ‘Royal-Blue’ shirt for Green-White. Werder agreed a deal with the youth international to bring him to Bremen until 2010.
For Werder’s youth team manager, this is no ordinary signing: “being able to coax a German junior international away from another Bundesliga club on a free transfer is not something that you see every day. That makes it all the more satisfying that he chose Werder Bremen.”
Aside from Werder Bremen, there were a number of national and international top clubs showing a distinct interest in the talented young striker: “Bremen convinced me!! Over the next two years I would like to complete my school education and I have been offered the perfect surroundings to do just that in Bremen. Both the educational and sporting perspectives suit me. My very first impression of Bremen was the feeling of a friendly atmosphere and I was welcomed very openly”, explained Pascal Testroet of his decision to sign for Werder Bremen.
