Werder’s media director Tino Polster took the time, during the German team’s final training session on Wednesday evening, to take the Werder fans on a virtual ramble around the arena, presenting the viewers with facts and an interesting insight into how life is at Ibrox Park, with reports from the VIP area as well as the hardwood panelled away team dressing room.

The anticipated 500 travelling fans will be greeted in Glasgow with some familiar Bremen weather as some heavy cloud drew in over Ibrox on Thursday afternoon.

On a sporting level, all preparations have been made for the last 16 clash with the Scottish league leaders. With the exception of only Boubacar Sanogo, the complete Werder squad were involved in Wednesday’s final training session and Thursday morning’s warm up. The Ivory Coast international’s participation is still in doubt: "He’s not feeling too good - he would appear to be coming down with a cold. We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the next couple of hours", admitted a patient Thomas Schaaf.

Diego was well fired up for the game ahead of lunch at the team hotel: "Following my Bundesliga break, I am really looking forward to getting involved. I’ve had enough time now to go through some extra exercises which are really good for me. I have no problems at the moment and will be able to give my all."

Werder will be cheered on by some 500 Green-White supporters, who will have little trouble acclimatising to the miserable weather conditions in Glasgow. A number of fans who got to watch the final training session considered the drizzly, cool (8°C) and windy conditions to be ‘Bremen weather’.
