On Monday, Torsten Frings was back doing some light training again as he jogged in Bremen’s ‘Bürgerpark’ along with co-trainer Matthias Hoenerbach and team mate Peter Niemeyer: "Torsten is going through the standard regenerative programme here in Bremen but it is possible that he could fly to Donaustauf again to have his condition controlled", explained coach Thomas Schaaf. Frings has missed the bulk of the season with several knee injuries and has, so far, made only six appearances, in all competitions, for the Green-Whites in this campaign.
For Ivan Klasnic, things were to develop as he expected them to following his substitution on Saturday: "I have a slight thigh strain", admitted the striker following a light training session on Monday afternoon. The Croatian international has not yet counted himself out of Thursday’s (06.03.2008) UEFA Cup clash with Glasgow Rangers (live on WERDER.TV) at Ibrox Park. The striker himself commented: "We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how things progress".
The situation is a similar one for front man Hugo Almeida. The Portuguese international is still suffering from the effects of a flu virus. Trainer Thomas Schaaf is hopeful that his striker will be back to full strength soon and said: "We can see that things are improving with him on a daily basis."
On a positive note, Tim Borowski has returned to full team training after, similar to Almeida, having been forced out of the game at the weekend with flu: "We’ll just have to wait and see how he gets on", concluded trainer Schaaf.
